To be able to pick out selected stories from different RSS feeds and offer these as one feed, I've been forced to create a new unique RSS feed. The feed is actually in .xml format and will soon be used as the story of the day.

The first selected feed is the London Art story that Carsten Höller will be the next artist to fill the Turbine Hall in Tate Modern.

The feed is: www.littlerss.com/rss/tate-modern.xml

I've used 3 different news feeds and taken out the relevant story.
I assume that this will also be a good tool to create a link to a story without having to worry about it being removed.

Is this a normal practice for RSS readers?

Jelle Klaasen wins the Dart World Championship

I don't often watch Dart but this evening I switched on the TV and found it really entertaining. I soon discovered that it was the World Championship Final and decided to watch it all.
To my surprise, both finalists were Dutch which might not be surprising for a Dart enthusiast but it was to me. I had earlier this week been collecting RSS feeds from Dutch Newspapers and most of them had Dart on the front pages and I finally got the explanation why.

Anyway, after a nail biting final, the youngster Klaasen won and looked more schocked then happy. I have a feeling that the Dutch papers will go mad about it so take a look at these RSS feeds to see how the saga develops.

In Dutch from the Netherlands:
De Volskrant: Sport nieuws
Algemeen Dagblad: Sportwereld
De Telegraaf: Telesport
NRC - Handelsblad: Sport

In English:
The Guardian: Sport
Daily Telegraph: Sport
Daily Mail: Sport
The Mirror: Sport

Yahoo! Groups Feeds

Here is a selection from the wonderful and absurd world of the Yahoo! Email Groups. Almost every topic possible can be found and you can easily follow the discussions of your interest.
You might ask why you would need a RSS feed from a group which is made up from emails?
My first reaction was that emails are only good when you can get to your emails quickly. Then there is the promotion of your Yahoo! Group and if you want to invite new members. Next reason is if you only want to look at the group occasionally and don’t like to get thousands of emails to organise. A quick RSS feed on a website will solve all problems so well done to Yahoo! for offering this service!
If you’re setting up a group, just remember to make your group public or you will not get a feed for your group at all.

Any groups suggested will be included in this menu so continue to send in your recommendations to theteam@littlerss.com.

Happy New Year and a <a href="http://www.littlerss.com/?Reader=1101" >Daily Comics Feed</a>

Let us end the year with something fun and thanks to perturb.org , we have 7 daily comic strips as one single RSS feed. The 7 comics strips are AdamHome, CalvinandHobbes, Dilbert, Foxtrot, NonSequitur, Sinfest and PvP.

As always there must be more comic strips out there but this feed was very quick and easy to find. I had a look at Dilbert's official website but the longwinded registration process made me give up even before any RSS feeds were mentioned.

If you know of any other good comedy RSS feeds, let us know.

Happy New Year,

The Little RSS team

<a href="http://www.littlerss.com/index.php?menuNo=1" >Newspaper RSS Feeds</a>

This seemed like a very good idea as I’ve personally used local newspaper’s RSS feeds to catch up on news from home.

However, after a quick Google search for local newspapers, the task looked much more daunting then ever anticipated. In USA alone, the website OnlineNewsPapers.com listed 166 newspapers beginning on the letter A! As you might expect, there will be many updates to this section as the feeds are slowly gathered.

Newspaper feeds will hopefully become one of the most interesting sections as they not only contain front page news, there are also thousands of travel, food, fashion, music, arts, technology, science and other great articles. When the Little RSS Search is completed, this should also become a goldmine of quickly found up-to-date information.

BBC Video News - RSS Feed Review

The first RSS feed up for review has to be BBC News’ Video RSS Feeds also known as the “AUDIO/VIDEO RSS BETA” feeds. Having been a user of the BBC News Player for a long time, it was a great joy to find these RSS feeds. However, compared to BBC’s other news feed this has more entertainment value then anything else. On the plus side, BBC includes much more feeds then for example CNN who only offer one single feed. CNN also plays an advert before each video which we luckily are spared from on all of BBC’s feeds.

In the end, this is a brilliant service which is both free from cost and adverts and we can only hope that this BETA version becomes a long lasting feature of the BBC NEWS’ website.

Read more about it on the BBC Website.

View all currently available BBC RSS Feeds.

Introduction to the Little RSS blog

This Little RSS blog is an attempt to find, review and discuss RSS feeds from all around the web. There are probably hundreds of these blogs already but as I couldn't find them, I decided to write my own.

I discovered RSS feeds a few months ago and I was amazed by the quantity and how easy it was to find up-to-date information that was interesting to me. It also surprised me how much time and hassle I saved of not opening websites and having to navigate to the interesting page. Unfortunately, I did not find a web-based RSS reader that was easy or quick enough to login and navigate through the feeds. This is why I decided to build my own RSS Reader and the result is the Little RSS Reader.

Now begins the task of finding this wealth of RSS feeds and that's what this blog is for.

If you know of any great feeds or similar blogs, please let us know as a comment or email us on theteam@littlerss.com
